The Interco recycling facilities are separated into three departments: nonferrous metals, computers and electronics, and battery processing. The nonferrous facility is located on the 40-acre main campus in Madison (IL) while the computers and electronics are processed in Edwardsville where the Administrative and some logistics offices are located. The commercial department is located on The Hill in St. Louis.

Job Description
The IT Support Specialist works as part of the IT department under the supervision of the IT Network Administrator to provide computer and technology support to company employees. The IT department helps ensure that the company network is functioning properly and up to date from top to bottom. The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to follow clear instructions and experience working with computers, networking, and peripherals.
Qualified candidates should have earned a degree in information systems, computer science, or a related degree or possess technical training and on-the-job experience. Knowledge of computer networking systems and computer hardware is essential as the IT Support Specialist will work with the IT Network Administrator to troubleshoot network systems and computer hardware and make repairs as needed. Candidates should have knowledge of and/or certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or Oracle.
The IT department writes and manages several in-house programming solutions as well as automation to help make company processes and departments more efficient. When called upon, the IT staff supports the ITAD division which inspects, grades, sorts, and packages computers, parts, and peripherals by wiping drives, installing operating systems, checking functionality of equipment to be recycled and repurposed, and packaging, as necessary.
The IT Support Specialist should be able to work well as part of a team to help support the maintenance and supervision of more than a dozen servers, a 120+ GPU mining rigs, 75+ users and workstations, a department-managed VOIP phone system, 100+ camera closed-circuit security system, proprietary software, redundant 1+ GB fiber optic data, and a diesel generator capable of sustaining power to the site for more than 30 days.

Responsibilities Include:
- Service and resolve hardware, software and system functionality and configuration
- Monitor, upgrade, and service servers, desktops, laptops, remote workstations, and peripherals
- Maintaining computer systems, troubleshooting errors, and repairing the organization's hardware.
- Analyzing, troubleshooting, and evaluating technology issues
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing hardware & software components of the organization's computers
- Respond and prioritize company helpdesk tickets related to hardware, software, and operations functionality
- Effectively manage the resolution of assigned IT issues within acceptable service levels and sufficient timeframe
- Identify and solve issues using a variety of methods including SSH, WHM, web interfaces, event logs and product support
- Perform both basic and advanced repairs on computer hardware
- Build and troubleshoot Windows and Linux Servers, Web Servers, and Domain Controllers
- Resolve issues with database management, operating system configuration, and server-side applications
- Troubleshoot Exchange and mail spam filtering servers in a hybrid environment
- Perform routine hardware and software upgrades and performance fine-tuning
- Overhaul and recalibrate workstations and associated hardware
- Monitor network, web and security applications
- Configure user settings during installation, onboarding and transfers.
