We are looking for an experienced and talented Senior Engineer to join our Digital Services & Atlantis R&D team. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordination, and executing New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, and R&D Maintenance projects for Digital Services & Atlantis in support of Dentsply Sirona’s Implants and Prosthetic Solutions business.
This is a hybrid role that requires you to be in the Waltham, MA office at least one day per week.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Technical leadership of New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, and R&D Maintenance projects for Atlantis, Simplant, and other digital products and services in accordance with company procedures and global medical device standards
- Collaboration with cross-functional and inter-continental project teams and stakeholders
- Mentorship of more junior R&D staff
Qualifications:
Education: Scientific or engineering education (Masters or PhD are a plus) in Mechanical/Industrial/Biomedical/Systems Engineering, or related engineering areas
Years and Type of Experience:
- 5+ years R&D / product development experience, including medical device projects. Dental industry is a plus
- Prior experience contributing to, if not leading, NPD projects
- Prior experience collaborating with off-site and intercontinental teams
Key Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities:
- Proficiency with:
- New Product Development project philosophy
- 3D design tools (Solidworks preferred), component design, design review, and tolerance analysis.
- CNC machining and 3D printing concepts
- US and EU medical device regulations: 21 CFR 820, MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971
- Soliciting and interpreting Voice of Customer and understanding the underlying problem to solve
- Written and spoken communication of technical subject matter with both technical and non-technical audiences
- At least a working understanding of:
- Software systems and software development. Medical device software and cloud computing are a plus
- Document control systems, specification management, Product Data Management (Windchill
