We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting our Heart Walk campaign, including our signature Heart & Stroke Walk events, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives with a focus on maximizing participant engagement.

Internship Overview:
- Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 9/8/26-12/11/2626
- Location: Hybrid in Sacramento, CA (some work in office/home office and travel to local external meetings and events)
- Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities and administrative support for the Sacramento/Stockton-Modesto market.
- Work with staff and volunteers to support fundraising campaigns. The focus is on Heart Walk campaign and increasing participation and engagement with the Sacramento and Stockton-Modesto Heart & Stroke Walk events.
- Conduct external visits, calls and emails to help with recruitment, engagement, management, and stewardship of current and prospective donors and volunteers.
- Support the development and updating of marketing materials for campaigns including save the dates, invitations, social media posts, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral to assist in campaign promotion.
- Assist with volunteer management including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual.)
- Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
Qualifications
- Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or event management
- Must be comfortable with outreach (phone calls & emails to current and prospective participants)
- Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
- Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong proficiency in Canva.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
