TITLE: High School Research Intern in Apiculture

DEPARTMENT: College of Agriculture Community and the Sciences

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Part-Time 

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION:  Non-Exempt

                             

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  A High School Research Assistant will  support in established research projects within the College of Agriculture, Community, and Sciences.

 

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Under the direct supervision of KSU Faculty Member, the High School Research Intern will contribute to established research projects.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1. To conduct examine honey bee tissues and pathogens by microscope
2. To evaluate tissues by spectrometer

 

OTHER DUTIES:

To conduct other routine laboratory tests as needed

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Student must a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 4.0 scale
2. Student must be able to give a block of time of at least two hours
3. Student must be able to provide own transportation to location
4. Interest in agriculture, environmental science, horticulture, agribusiness, etc. is preferred

 

Licensing and Certifications            None

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:    

1. Computer literacy
2. Effective communication skills
3. Ability to work cooperatively in a team effort is required
4. Initiative, resourcefulness, punctuality, and ability to work independently are essential

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY 

 

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (examples provided below)
