Overview
The Nexus Water Group has an opportunity for a Director, Regulatory Affairs. The Director of Regulatory Affairs will assist the Vice President, Finance in providing key leadership for Sunshine Water Services division to ensure quality, cost, timeliness, and compliance with state regulations. This leader will direct projects with significant financial and strategic impact, including the negotiation of rates with regulators. This role is also responsible for supporting critical, highly sensitive external relationships.
Work Location and Schedule
This position can be primarily based in Altamonte Springs, FL with some travel.
What You'll Do
- Plans, directs, organizes and coordinates efforts to ensure the completeness, adequacy, accuracy and timeliness of revenue requirements projects in Florida.
- Manages the preparation of regulatory filings including exhibits relating to costs and rates to be presented to regulators, and proffers pre-filed and oral testimony in support of such exhibits.
In consultation with other departments, manages the direction and coordination of all other filings with regulators. - Ensures prescribed methods, procedures, and internal controls are followed.
- Maintains a current understanding of regulatory climates in the State of Florida and uses that insight to derive regulatory strategy.
- Performs complex statistical, accounting and regulatory analyses. Conducts complex studies of a technical nature involving budgeting and regulation.
- Advises all levels of management regarding budgeting and regulatory requirements, including resolving problems encountered, improving reporting and procedures, explaining and installing new or modified procedures.
First 12 Months:
- Gain a full understanding of Sunshine Water Service’s people and processes.
- Gain the confidence and trust of the team to ensure greatest effectiveness in collaboration.
- Manage division costs within budget and work towards Company growth plans.
- Become fully knowledgeable in all regulated operations.
- Create process improvement procedures to attain better efficiencies.
What You'll Bring
Experience
- Required to have a minimum of 8 years of direct involvement in dealing with a regulatory commission reflecting increasing levels of responsibility and accomplishments and experience which provides a thorough knowledge of regulatory filings, management and accounting principles, regulatory theory and practice. Thorough working knowledge of all applicable regulatory and governmental regulations affecting the Company.
Education, Certification, and Licenses
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- CPA certification required.
- A Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Company’s insurance carrier is desirable.
Nice to Have
- MBA or MS in Business Administration preferred.
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) such as SAP for work order management and scheduling, time card management, inventory management, and procurement activities is desirable.
- Experience using GIS map viewer software is desirable.
- Experience using field data collection devices such as GPS, valve operating data, etc. is desirable
