Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented and highly motivated leader to serve as the Manager of Project Management to support and lead a multi-disciplinary program team of project managers executing a large portfolio of projects for a California based utility undergrounding program.

 

The Manager of Project Management will be responsible for managing daily activities of the project management team including coordination of project managers and supporting planning, execution and closeout of the portfolio activities.

 

This role will work closely with the Program Manager and other members of the leadership team establish and or enhance policies, procedures, workload leveling and planning.

 

This position will support the SDG&E undergrounding program, an exciting and best-in-class program management opportunity utilizing innovative technical methods and collaborative partnerships to reduce wildfire risk to communities. The program is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar program with significant opportunity for growth and impact.

 

Relocation assistance is available for this role.

 

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of project management processes, financial acumen, an understanding of project controls within the full life cycle of large CapX programs and/or projects.  Current experience with complex electrical system planning, permitting, engineering, construction, commissioning, turnover, closeout, contractors, supply chain issues and logistics related to large capital programs of above and below-ground electric systems is preferred. Strong leadership and demonstrated communication skills are necessary to be successful in this role.  Candidates who have served as project manager, project lead or senior project manager roles in large energy CapX infrastructure programs are preferred.

 

Responsibilities of this position, include but are not limited to:

  • Project management
  • Working with a diverse team of professionals, including but not limited to, project managers, construction managers, project controls professionals, estimating, public outreach, procurement professionals, environmental professionals, consultants, owners engineering, safety professionals, risk management etc.
  • Managing daily activities of the project management team
  • Overseeing the functional workstreams of the program
  • Supporting program controls
  • Client interface
  • Supporting Program Director and program leadership team
  • Planning, execution, and closeout of the portfolio activities
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical or Civil Engineering, Project Management, or closely related field +6 Years of Relevant Experience, including management of infrastructure projects including electrical substations, transmission lines, distribution and/or distributed energy resources
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects and/or programs with high quality on schedule and within scope and budget
  • Experience with power grid, transmission and distribution industry (T&D) and electric utilities in California and other western states.
  • Experience with design and construction of new and upgrade of existing transmission lines, substations, and distribution lines with voltage levels from 12kV to 500kV.
