STUDENT BEHAVIOR ANALYST SUMMARY:

A Student Behavior Analyst (SA) is responsible for assisting the Clinical Director and/or Behavior Analysts in the development and management of participant’s programming. An SA is an understudy to the Behavior Analysts. The main role of a trainee is to learn the essential job responsibilities and duties of a Behavior Analysts by completing tasks and projects assigned to them in a timely manner that align with the BACB’s requirements. In addition, the SA may need to provide 1:1 and/or group therapy to A Bridge to Achievement’s (ABtA) program participants on their individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy programs. The SA is responsible for building/maintaining rapport, program implementation, data collection/entry and keeping up-to-date on programming goals/changes for each program participant served. A SA reports to the Behavior Analyst(s) they support and the Director of Trainee Development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

All tasks and duties are to be done under direct supervision from a BCBA.

  • Ensures the safety of program participants served
  • Provides 1:1 and/or group-based Applied Behavioral Therapy in home, community, school and/or center based settings
  • Implements individualized Applied Behavior Analysis treatment plans that target skill deficits in the areas of social, play, communication, safety, and self-help, among others, as outlined by direct supervisors
  • Directly implements individualized Behavior Intervention Plans that target the reduction of challenging behaviors
  • Consistently and accurately collects and enters data during treatment sessions as instructed by their direct supervisor
  • Assists in the development of treatment and behavior plans when appropriate
  • Promotes program participant morale through positive and effective oral communications
  • Recognizes issues/questions to bring to the supervisor’s attention
  • Attends and contributes to trainings, team meetings/debriefings/workshops
  • Support participants’ programming needs and participates in regular communications with program participants’ families
  • Must be able to implement and assist with toileting skills goals as instructed by their direct supervisor
  • Helps with preparation and organization of program materials/supplies
  • Submits required session documentation according to ABtA’s policies and procedures
  • Ensures all necessary human resource documents remain up-to-date
  • Adheres to funder requirements and guidelines when implementing treatment, writing and submitting session notes and billing for services
  • Adheres to the BACB’s RBT Ethics Code, regardless of credentials
  • Must comply with all ABtA’s policies, procedures and ethical code of conduct
  • Can act as a peer mentor for new employees
  • Can model typical direct session interventions for new shadowing employees
  • Can act as case support for new staff when needed
  • May independently run informal case reviews with new staff on cases
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Maintains RBT certification per the BACB’s requirements and yearly competency assessment conducted by supervisor
  • Ensures that a current ABtA supervisor is registered to the RBT credential with the BACB
  • Receives and records supervision for a minimum of 5% of their direct service hours worked each month
  • Complete tasks and projects as requested by the Behavior Analyst, and under the supervision of the Clinical Director (LP/LPA). Tasks include but are not limited to:
    • Aid in and facilitate parent training meetings with BCBA
    • Assist in the development of treatment plans
    • Assist in conducting assessments and reassessments
    • Assists in maintaining and updating all client programming per treatment plan
    • Assists with Fidelity checklist data
    • Serves as a liaison between BCBA and different parties (RBTs, behavior technicians, other staff, and parents) as needed to ensure relevant information is effectively communicated
  • Can Lead monthly staff trainings when appropriate
  • Collect observational data and notes to present to the Behavior Analyst
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current ABtA Staff in our Trainee Program
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Must be enrolled in a program towards obtaining a Master’s degree featuring Behavior-analytic coursework or have previously obtained a Mas
