Job DescriptionWhere you come in:
- Coordinate the daily activities and priorities for hazard Improvement and EHS workplace performance by promoting a positive safety culture and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies and standards.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. Conduct and coordinate on-site assessments of the physical conditions and work practices of the site.
- Coordinate the implementation of controls from results of hazard analyses and risk assessments. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to mitigate workplace incidents and injuries.
- Assists in the development of controlled documents and training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/office inspection, emergency response, and life safety, is the point of contact for emergency personnel. Develop specialized education and training materials as needed.
- Review, investigate and implement action plans for work-related injuries, illnesses, accidents and safety concerns.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of federal, state and local OSHA regulations, fire and safety codes, engineering safety standards and environmental quality regulations.
- Coordinates and participates in safety committees and leads meetings related to employee safety, lab safety, fire safety, as well as property loss or damage. Assist with hosts all external onsite inspections from regulatory agencies.
- Able to respond after-hours in case of emergencies at the Site.
- Supports the Mesa, AZ, EHSS team as directed to provide technical EHSS expertise and consultatory support for our other Mesa Dexcom manufacturing location.
- Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
- Act as a site expert for warehousing safety to include powered industrial truck operations, material handling safety, warehouse ergonomics, etc.
- Assist with hazardous waste management, environmental recordkeeping/permitting, hazardous materials shipping, etc.
What makes you successful:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a safety related or technical field
- 3-5 years of EHS experience, preferably within a Warehouse setting
- High energy and results-oriented
- Self-starter and takes the initiative to make improvements.
- Positive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience using EHS IT Systems such as Intelex, Velocity, Process Map, etc..
- In depth knowledge of EHS laws, standards, codes and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated through experience and training.
- Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Experience in an EHSS position within the Medical Device industry in a manufacturing setting
- Expertise in Arizona Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulations
- EHS related certifications (DOT, IATA, RCRA, HAZWOPER, etc.)
- Knowledge of building code regulations related to storage of hazmats
- Ergonomic experience in a warehouse setting
