The Subsystems Make Center 801 RFEI factory includes product and process focused factories that assemble and test RFEI subassemblies and guidance sections in support of the RTX portfolio of weapons to the war fighter. Emphasizing mission assurance by encouraging initiative at all levels, the Subsystems Make Center manages customer commitments through quality, cost, and schedule execution.
The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is the primary supervisor and team executor within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Value Stream Manager and be accountable for the daily execution and a member of a cross functional team which includes the Value Stream Manager (VSM), Production Support team (ME, PTE, IE, QE, PC) and Production engineering/test support team. The VSL will be tasked to execute operational schedules, priorities, goals while collaborating with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the VSL will have accountability for production, depot deliveries, and direct daily supervision of bargaining unit team members.
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both manufacturing and technical leadership roles.
What You Will Do
- Direct supervision and responsibility for 20+ bargaining unit employees and additional support/technical personnel.
- Collaboration and communication with upstream and downstream VSLs and leadership.
- Utilization of knowledge of manufacturing principles, manufacturing support team roles and responsibilities and manufacturing systems in support of daily execution
- Execution and sustainment of product focused processes, tooling, equipment and test architecture.
- Personnel performance input for all related functions and career development of team members including coaching and mentoring.
- Perform a wide variety of improvements, efforts and initiatives related to the factory manufacturing system.
- Assisting with labor forecasts and Estimates at Compete (EACs) for the touch employees.
- Execute priorities relating to safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Interact with support engineering, supply chain, and quality with respect to project schedules.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of five (5) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum three (3) years' experience.
- Supervisory or managerial experience.
- Experience with Manufacturing, Operations, or Supply Chain.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment or bargaining unit employees
- Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
- Previous experience leading a direct team with specific deadlines, requirements or deliverables
- Familiarity with manufacturing and industrial engineering practices
- Familiarity with quality requirements relating to manufacturing environments
- Superior communication skills
- Familiarity with the sequencing for fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other manufacturing operations in relation to similar
