Description

Girard College, grades 1-12, is a full scholarship boarding school that fosters intellectual curiosity, social development and emotional growth in academically focused students from underserved communities. We ensure every student the opportunity and the means to achieve excellence and preparation for advanced education through purposeful academic and residential programs.

 

Summary:

The residential program administrative assistant performs secretarial/administrative tasks that support the Residential Dean. Hours are from 10:00am – 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Dean by taking calls/emails from residential advisors and parents,
  • Providing information and routing calls/emails as needed,
  • Preparing confidential correspondence to parents,
  • Scheduling substitutes when needed,
  • Scheduling vans and buses for field trips,
  • Preparing reports, handbooks, and other publications,
  • Distribute information to residential staff,
  • Track expenditures and process check requests/reimbursements,
  • Assist with special student arrangements and other administrative tasks.  
  • Assist in maintaining the departmental budget, ordering office supplies and equipment
  • Perform related work as needed

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
  • The ability to learn our student tracking system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for contact with the students, families, and Girard staff
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to work in a team environment, to work independently when appropriate, and to take the initiative when work needs to get done
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • High School degree plus four years of related experience, education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Boarding school experience is a plus, but not required

 

Pay Type: Hourly         Position Type: 12 month                Union: Local 628
