Position Summary
At Nestlé Purina PetCare, we’re a “safety first” culture, driven by a zero accident, zero defect, zero waste mentality. As a Safety Manager, you will lead the implementation of policies and programs necessary to fully comply with Nestle Purina Pet Care Safety Programs and objectives. You will provide training and ensure proper communication at all levels of the plant to achieve full preparation in the Safety and Health programs and compliance with Federal, State, and Local Government regulations. You will act as a resource to all departments in the plant to provide safety and loss control support
- Responsible for Safety Culture Development and monitoring through Safety Compliance Training and new hire onboarding for Safety
- Responsible for the Emergency Action Plan and PEO Team training and coordination
- Responsible for OSHA Record Keeping and filing, Internal Record Keeping, including SHE-PM and SIMT. Acts as the Point of Contact for Regulatory Inspections. Responsible for full compliance with governmental regulation (local, state, and federal)
- Responsible for the Management of the Following Programs: Behavioral Based Safety, Chemical Approval, Industrial Hygiene, Workers Compensation, Incident Case Management, Bloodborne Pathogen, Hearing Conservation, PPE Management, Modes of Operation and Machinery Safety, High Hazard Tasks, Asbestos Abatement, Hearing Conservation, Safety Inspection, Ergonomics, OHSAS Management, CAPA, Safety Policies, HECP and periodic inspections, Medical Surveillance, Risk Identification, Mitigation and Prevention Program Owner, PIT/PED Program and Laser Safety
- Provides Support for the following programs and functions: QA, Food Safety Team, Internal Auditing, Labatory Safety Program, Engineering and Combustible Dust
- Acts as the SHE Pillar Leader and Safety Committee Leader with trend analysis of leading and lagging indicators
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of the capital budget to improve and maintain equipment and facilities
- Responsible for plant energy costs and efficiency. Responsible for the research and implementation of projects and programs to continually reduce energy costs and improved utilization
- Through understanding of the engineering environmental activities including air, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and solid waste. Responsible for the maintaining of all pollution control devices
- Responsible for all outside contractors to assure compliance with all company standards including safety, sanitation, quality, productivity and budgeting
- Directs the installation of new equipment and/or modification rearrangement of existing equipment for assigned projects. Approves installation of new equipment with an emphasis on safety.
- Responsible for the cost, schedule and performance of capital projects
- Sets the direction for engineering training by providing the leadership, support, and training necessary for the development of each team member as a valued and critical resource
- Oversees Site Security
- Program Owner for Rotary Valve Safety
- Other duties, as assigned.
