Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Global Grain and Processing Group. We are looking for a Senior Controls Engineering Specialist to join our growing team. You must be a self-starter, organized, and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and able to work well independently.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, documentation, and troubleshooting of advanced process control PLCs, computers, servers, networks, and programs for all assigned facilities.
- Take a central role in the selection and installation of process controls and computers with an interface to control instrumentation.
- Create and maintain plant data collection and reporting systems.
- Program Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLCs in ladder logic and use AOIs to create and maintain an equipment tag database and configure HMI screens.
- Maintain documentation and records for the process control and computer systems.
- Provide technical leadership in understanding and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate and work with outside vendors, contractors, production, and engineering.
- Assume responsibility for providing 24/7 on-call after-hours support as needed.
- Perform work in a combination of office and industrial environments, depending on project needs.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Willingness to travel to other facilities as needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in computers, electronics, and PLCs with a full understanding of the interface between field instrumentation, PLCs, and computers.
Additional Qualifications
- Two-year degree in electronic instrumentation, robotics, computer engineering technology, or electrical engineering technology with a focus on PLC programming (additional years of related experience may offset the degree requirement) preferred
- Experience with Rockwell Historian/OSI Pi, PTC Thingworx data collection and reporting systems.
- Experience with other control systems, including DeltaV and Foxboro.
- Experience with SQL database administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET programming.
- Experience with field instrumentation, AutoCAD, and Allen Bradley PLC programming.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office suite
