Position Summary

Under guidance, oversees and coordinates the daily activities within the research laboratory This role also assists scientists, both independently and collaboratively, with laboratory and investigative procedures and may be required to work with animal models and/or human subjects.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs routine molecular biology laboratory procedures, such as PCR, protein and DNA electrophoresis, cloning and DNA preparation.
• Runs routine biochemistry assays including western blotting and RT-PCR.
• Performs microscopic imaging analyses.
• Maintains detailed records and logs of experiments to the lab personnel, and reports summary logs.
• Evaluates, recommends, and develops new techniques to assist in overall laboratory efficiency.
• Responsible for ordering lab related supplies, receiving and archiving all work related reagents in freezer, refrigerator and stored materials.
• Maintains clean equipment associated with experimental procedure.
• Responsible for general maintenance of the laboratory workspace.
• As needed, implements/maintains IACUC protocols; responsible for maintaining EHS guideline of lab safety, chemical and biological waste management, environmental safety programs; covers other non-exempt technical areas with EPA and OSHA guidelines.
• Takes on daily management responsibilities of junior and mid-level team members.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree

Experience

Approximately 3-5 years of related work experience within a laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently.
• Research oriented mind with an enthusiasm to investigate research subjects.
• Animal handling experience (mouse)
