Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review project plans and proposals, and work with management to develop project objectives.
- Study product design, customer requirements, and performance standards to determine project specifications and present cost estimates
- Review contractor bids
- Through project coordination meetings and other communication channels, oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of the project.
- Prepare status reports and regularly monitor schedules
- Maintain an accurate record of all elements of the project via an electronic database
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications
- Interact daily with clients to interpret their needs and requirements
- Read drawings and prepare take-offs
- Prepare, submit, and track RFIs and submittals
- Generate and track all change orders
- Track and log all drawings
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other project participants to ensure project success.
- Inform safety managers, superintendents, and/or appropriate supervisors of any safety violations and/or injuries immediately.
- Establish annual continuing education goals to improve performance and proficiency in construction project management.
- Collect closeout documentation and prepare warranties and O&M manuals for Owner.
- Other Duties as assigned
- Employees may be required to work extended hours (more than 8 hours per day), weekends, and holidays. Employee will be compensated based on the guidelines in the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or other construction-related fields of study preferred
- 3+ years relevant work or internship experience, knowledge of general contracting is a plus.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Timberline, PlanGrid, P6, Microsoft Scheduler, Microsoft Outlook, and/or Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of the preconstruction phase, bidding/estimating, accounting, risk management, safety, budget control, schedule control, submittals, RFIs, and change order processes
- Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc, plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between construction and design teams
- Must successfully complete and pass a background check and drug/alcohol testing
- Valid driver’s record preferred
