Housekeeper

Description

Purpose

To perform a variety of activities in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, and as may be directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Director of Operations to ensure that the facility functions in an orderly, comfortable, clean and safe manner.

Housekeeping Functions - Duties

1 Be responsible for ensuring that trash dumpsters located throughout the facility are removed to their designated pickup points.

2 Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific tasks as assigned.

3 Clean, wash, polish, sanitize, deodorize, and disinfect all areas and items in the facility including furnishings, fixtures, windows, mirrors, floors, carpets, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, etc. using proper cleaning and disinfection solutions and procedures.

4 Clean carpets, floors.

5 Arrange, rearrange and transport furnishings and equipment, assist in groundskeeping and snow removal, transport residents in company vehicle.

6 Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner, clearly marked with caution or safety signs as required.

7 Ensure that work areas are fere of all hazardous objects and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored at all times.

8 Ensure that established Universal Precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation

practices and maintained and followed when performing housekeeping duties.

9 Promptly report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Housekeeping and Laundry Services Supervisor and/or the Director of Operations.

10 Present positive endorsement of Elm Terrace Gardens, its mission, programs, policies, procedures, and administration to Elm Terrace Gardens residents, staff, visitors, and other constituencies at all times.

11 Report to work as scheduled.

12 Assist with resident transport to and from activities.

Resident Rights Functions - Duties

1 Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.

2 Treats residents with kindness, dignity, patience, and respect.

3 Know and complies with the rules of the residents' rights.

4 Adheres to residents' personal property rights at all times.

Staff Functions - Duties

1 Attends and participates in orientation, staff meetings, training, in-service sessions, and other activities as directed by the Housekeeping and Laundry Services Supervisor and/or Director of Operations.

2 Follows established safety rules and regulations at all times, including fire safety procedures and disaster control; promptly reports accidents, incidents and unsafe and hazardous equipment or conditions.

3 Knows and complies with basic facility infection control policies and procedures, including blood-borne pathogen standard and infectious waste disposal.

Staff Functions - Physical & Sensory Req

1 Has the ability to understand and follow training and in-service sessions.

Other Job Functions - Duties

1 Ensure that work and cleaning schedules are followed.

2 Report supply needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Director of Operations.

3 Ensure that all equipment used in performing assigned duties is in proper working order at all times.

4 Promptly report any malfunctions, breakdowns, and hazardous conditions or equipment to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Director of Operations.

5 Attend and participate in staff meetings, training, and in-service sessions, and other activities as directed.

All Other Duties as Assigned

1 Completes all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Housekeeping and Laundry Services and/or the Director of Operations.

Comments

Incumbent is subject to orientation. Position is subject to applicable provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and related regulations. Incumbent becomes eligible for benefits and leave accruals according to the designated employment category after successful completion of orientation.

Requirements

Qualifications

1 Must be at least 18 years of age and/or completed high school, or obtained the equivalent of a high school education, or otherwise shows ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions

2 Must provide valid Pennsylvania Driver's License

3 Must speak and understand English

4 Must possess an agreeable and positive attitude toward the residents

Housekeeping Functions - Physical & Sensory Req

1 Has the ability to sit, walk, reach, bend, lift, and has fine hand coordination.

2 Has the ability to pull, push, and distinguish smells and temperatures.

3 Has the ability to read and write English.
