Elderwood's network of Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) are now offering a Certified Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program for individuals eager to join the healthcare field and provide compassionate care to residents in our assisted living facilities. 

 

INITIAL COURSE SCHEDULE  - Location, Date, Time:

Location: Elderwood at Cheektowaga

Start Date: Monday, April 28, 2025

No class May 15th – 27th

Tentative End Date: Friday, June 6, 2025

Course Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm (Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri)

Class will not be held on Wednesdays

What is a Home Health Aide (HHA)?A Home Health Aide is a trained worker qualified to carry out health care tasks, assist with personal hygiene, housekeeping, and other related supportive tasks to a patient with health care needs in his/her home under the supervision of an RN.How Do I Enroll for HHA Training?Apply here! Once your application is received and reviewed, you will be contacted for a personal interview with the facility coordinator. At the time of your first interview you will also take a brief prescreening test. The test score and personal interview will determine your eligibility. How Much Does HHA Training Cost?You only earn money with this opportunity. This training is paid. However, typically this training program costs approximately $1500.00.Are There Home Health Aide (HHA) Employment Opportunities?**Yes! There is a need for this type of training and job opportunities are available. Once the training is successfully completed you may transition into a full or part time HHA role at Elderwood Assisted Living at West Seneca.

Responsibilities

Candidates slected for this training opportunity must:

  • Be able to attend the full training - 4 weeks, 4 days a week, 9a-5p.

What You’ll Learn in the Training Program:

  • How to assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Techniques for maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
  • Skills to monitor and report residents’ health changes to the nursing staff.
  • Understanding of care plans and how to collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

How Do I Qualify? Qualified HHA Applicants Must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Provide immunization records
  • Pass a physical
  • Pass a background check
  • Follow written and verbal instruction
  • Be able to frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Have excellent interp
