Leidos has an exciting career opportunity for a Communications Manager supporting our National Security Sector (NSS). NSS aims to protect our nation, our people, and our critical assets around the world with technology-enabled services and mission software for defense, intelligence, and homeland security customers.
The Communications Manager will be skilled in integrated communications and marketing strategy with demonstrated history of developing and managing projects in those areas. Specifically, they will be responsible for developing marketing assets and content, including, but not limited to, tradeshow marketing materials, web site landing pages, digital assets, fact sheets and brochures, advertisements, social media, and more. The successful candidate will report to the NSS Communications Director and will work closely with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and functional teams to develop and implement communications and marketing strategies and tactics that help grow Leidos’ business and advance our brand in key markets.
The successful candidate will have a broad communications skillset, demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness, be a problem solver, and strong writer, and strong project manager. They will be able to easily prioritize and balance multiple simultaneous projects with agility and flexibility. The ability to understand technical information and summarize complex topics for a broad audience is important. Proven ability to work with and support senior leaders and technical experts, both independently and in team settings, is also key.
The ideal candidate will reside in the Washington, D.C. metro area and work out of the Leidos Global Headquarters in Reston, Va. on a regular basis. Preference will be given to local candidates.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, project manage, and implement communications and marketing strategies and tactics aligned to Sector growth objectives that strengthen Leidos' position in key markets.
- Identify and develop core capability positioning and messaging that uniquely differentiates Leidos’ services, clearly communicates customer benefits, and highlights our competitive advantage.
- Plan, execute, and manage internal and external-facing marketing communications campaigns in support of growth initiatives.
- Ensure key capabilities are marketed effectively to deliver awareness and growth.
- Collaborate with the Sector Communications Director, Sector Marketing Lead, and other teammates to develop and execute multi-channel marketing plans that include digital advertising, SEO/SEM, email marketing, content marketing, and social media strategies to enhance brand visibility and lead generation.
- Draft marketing materials, such as brochures, fact sheets, website landing pages, social media posts, advertising copy, thought leadership, and other deliverables and work with appropriate subject matter experts and functional teams to finalize and post to the correct channel.
- Organize and nurture social media plans focused on priority capabilities and/or workforce initiatives
- Support key trade shows by developing messaging and marketing content and collateral, drafting social media posts, writing pre- and post-show emails, among other duties. Must be willing and able to travel to trade show events to provide on-site support, as needed.
- Engage with Growth and Strategy teams to better understand customer needs, competitive offerings and positions, market trends, and competitive strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships across different departments to ensure consistent messaging and leverage insights from these areas for better communication strategies.
- Work collaboratively with the marketing team to align communication strategies with broader marketing objectives, ensuring a unified approach to market penetration and brand consistency.
- Track marketing campaign key performance indicators and collaborate with teammates to develop data-driven recommendations.
- Act as a brand champion for Leidos, ensuring our brand standards are maintained across all internal and external touchpoints.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited university. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- Minimum of 12+ years of prior relevant experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or related fields.
- Superior English writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in business-to-business or business-to-government marketing.
