About the Project:

The Tech Lead, often a Senior or Staff Software Engineer, is pivotal in driving technical excellence within the engineering team. This role capitalizes on deep technical expertise and a hands-on approach to guide the development and execution of software projects. While not a managerial position, the Tech Lead influences through mentorship and exemplary coding practices, ensuring projects not only align with the strategic goals, but also push the envelope in technological innovations. 

Responsibilities:

Technical Direction: 

• Provide expert guidance on the architectural design of software systems, ensuring robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions. 
• Contribute to the selection of technology stacks and frameworks, making decisions that optimize performance and future scalability. 
• Act as a key decision-maker in the adoption of new technologies and tools that can enhance project outcomes and team productivity. 

Hands-on Coding: 

• Actively contribute to coding, particularly in complex and critical areas of the project. 
• Set benchmarks for code quality and innovation, demonstrating best practices in coding and software design. 
• Review and refine code to ensure it meets the highest standards of quality and aligns with the overall system architecture. 

Mentorship Over Management: 

• Provide mentorship to engineers, offering technical leadership and guidance without direct managerial responsibilities. 
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging engineers to upskill and stay abreast of the latest industry trends. 
• Share knowledge and insights on effective problem-solving techniques and coding practices. 

Project Oversight: 

• Ensure that all projects are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and are executed within agreed timelines. 
• Monitor project milestones and deliverables, intervening when necessary to guide the project back on track. 
• Collaborate with other roles, such as the Director of Engineering and Product Managers, to ensure a cohesive approach to product development. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

• Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and stakeholders. 
• Facilitate technical discussions, ensuring that decisions are made with a consensus and aligned with business goals. 
• Document technical processes and decisions for future reference and to aid in project continuity. 

Innovation and Improvement: 

• Encourage a mindset of innovation within the team, exploring cutting-edge technologies and methodologies that could enhance product offerings. 
• Regularly assess and optimize workflows and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in project delivery. 

Tools and Technologies: 

• Stay updated with the latest tools and technologies that can benefit the team and project outcomes. 
• Strong experience with Node or Python
• Experience with relational and no relational database 
• Ensure the team is proficient in necessary tools and technologies, providing training and resources as needed. 

Flexibility in Working Hours: 

• Accommodate flexible working hours to collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team, ensuring optimal interaction and productivity across different time zones.
