What You WIll Do:· Perform daily tasks on a variety of databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres) including: create, troubleshoot and/or optimize performance of databases and database objects such as jobs, queries, procedures, functions, triggers, indexes etc. · Provide technical services and support for database creation, modification, testing, administration, monitoring, tuning, backup, and recovery. · Monitor database performance and identify causes of deadlocks or opportunities to increase query performance using indexes and partitions. · Ensure database backups are optimal and recovery is periodically tested. · Ensure software updates and patches are applied according to agency requirements and any issues are communicated in a timely fashion · Review and verify database security requirements are implemented including the use of automated scans
Database Engineer Roles · Envision future-state through identified database improvements. · Design database data elements, ensuring logical data models are fully attributed, normalized, and included in a data dictionary. · Review database developer code prior to deployment actions. · Participate in the deployment of applications and application updates that include the deployment or altering of databases and/or database objects. · Import, export and migrate data as needed to a variety of databases.
What You Need:· Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Alternatively, ten years of demonstrated experience.· Five (5) years of experience administering databases including Oracle and SQL Server · Three (3) years of experience designing database models for transactional applications · Experience patching, backup up and securing databases in a production environment · Experience creating roles, triggers, procedures, functions, maintenance plans, alerts and jobs · Knowledge of indexes including maintaining indexes for optimal performance · Experience creating ETL scripts for data warehouses preferred · Experience with BI/visualization tools such as Tableau or OBIEE preferred · Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. · Demonstrated written and oral communications skillsHalvik offers a competitive full benefits package including:Company-supported medical, dental, vision, life, STD, and LTD insuranceBenefits include 11 federal holidays and PTO.401(k) with company matchingFlexible Spending Accounts for commuter, medical, and dependent care expensesTuition AssistanceCharitable Contribution matching
