Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Develop and validate designs for the airframe and other composite components.
· Work closely with other team members, including structural analysis, manufacturing, and test engineers.
· Be responsible for ensuring that the designs meet structural, manufacturing producibility, assembly, cost, and other requirements.
· Specific tasks you will perform include conceptual design and trade studies to select the materials, structural configuration, and manufacturing method for the components.
· Perform detailed design, including creation of CAD models and drawings, laminate definition, ply draping simulation, and ply shape definition.
· Perform DFMEA and PFMEA studies.
· Assist with manufacturing and quality-related activities such as producibility studies, non-destructive and dimensional inspection methods development, and first article inspections.
Education/Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
· 5+ years of experience designing tooling or manufacturing equipment.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
· Experience designing tooling or manufacturing equipment in a production environment, preferably in an aerospace or high-volume operation.
· Experience with a wide variety of assembly and manufacturing processes, process automation, cost analysis for outsourcing of processes, and paperless workflow systems.
· Tool design for complex assemblies (spring assemblies, electro-mechanical jigs, etc.), drill jigs, scaffoldings, etc.
· Experience with sheet metal design, shop aids, machining, additive manufacturing, and material selection.
· Design for manufacturing and assembly of aerospace or automotive structures for both high rate and low-rate production.
· Proficient with CAD and PLM software (NX and Teamcenter preferred); surface modeling is a plus.
· Proficient with model-based definition, drafting and GD&T standards (ASME Y14.41, Y14.100, Y14.5).
Salary Range: $120,000 - 160,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
