Frontend Engineer - Core Product

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to help us build next-generation social networking platforms. You’ll work on building beautiful and intuitive frontends for our suite of chat, education, and content creation applications. We are a recently Series A funded technology and lifestyle startup headquartered in Irvine, California with a fashion/design office in Seoul, South Korea. Our brand spans multiple touchpoints including digital art, social media, fashion merchandise, music events, community meetups, and digital applets. We blend social media technology with authentic community building both online and offline.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and implement elegant, responsive user interfaces with meticulous attention to detail

• Build and maintain a cohesive component library and design system

• Optimize performance for smooth interactions and fast load times

• Ensure consistent experience across browsers and devices

• Write clean, maintainable CSS with modern best practices

• Implement accessibility standards for inclusive design

Visual & Interaction Design

• Create polished, contemporary UI designs that scale across devices

• Design and implement smooth transitions and animations

• Craft intuitive navigation patterns and information hierarchy

• Develop cohesive color systems and typography scales

• Create visual feedback systems for user interactions

• Design and implement responsive layouts that work beautifully at all breakpoints

• Build consistent component patterns that maintain visual harmony

Technical Requirements

• Strong proficiency with:

  • React and component architecture

  • TypeScript and modern JavaScript

  • CSS fundamentals (layout, positioning, box model)

  • Modern CSS features (Grid, Flexbox, Custom Properties)

  • CSS-in-JS solutions (styled-components, Emotion)

  • Animation techniques (CSS transitions, Framer Motion)

  • State management patterns

  • Responsive design implementation

  • Performance optimization techniques

• Working knowledge of:

  • Browser rendering and performance

  • Build tools (Webpack, Vite)

  • Version control with Git

  • Testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library)

  • Web vitals and performance metrics

  • Debugging tools and browser DevTools

  • Package management (npm/yarn)

  • Basic command line usage

Design Skills & Knowledge

• Strong typography skills:

  • Font pairing and hierarchy

  • Line height and spacing

  • Responsive type scaling

  • Font performance optimization

• Layout expertise:

  • Grid systems and composition

  • White space and rhythm

  • Responsive patterns

  • Information hierarchy

• Visual design fundamentals:

  • Color theory and palette creation

  • Visual hierarchy and balance

  • Component spacing systems

  • Icon design principles

  • Shadow and depth

  • Design consistency

• Animation and interaction:

  • Timing and easing

  • Micro-interactions

  • Loading states

  • Transition patterns

  • Gesture-based interactions

Workflow & Collaboration

• Experience with modern design tools (Figma, Sketch)

• Ability to translate designs into pixel-perfect implementations

• Understanding of design handoff and asset management

• Strong communication skills for design discussions

• Experience documenting design decisions and patterns

• Ability to give and receive constructive design feedback
