SEASONAL SCALEHOUSE OPERATOR

The hourly rate for this position is $21.10.

Thurston County Public Works is recruiting for two (2) Seasonal Tollhouse Operators to join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative Solid Waste team. The successful candidate will assist customers and collect fees at Thurston County Solid Waste facilities located in Lacey, Rainier and Rochester.

***This temporary/seasonal position generally works 40 hours per week and is anticipated to last six (6) months from the hire date.***

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Measures loads of refuse for cubic yardage to determine cost; determines categories for loads.
• Collects fees explaining the rate structure; issues receipts.
• Answers phone calls from public for information on dumping.
• Logs daily and weekly receipt sheet; deposits cash receipts weekly.
• Performs custodial maintenance of facilities daily.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Personnel: This position is considered to be an essential worker and may be required to work during non-business hours or closures in order to meet operational requirements and needs.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work Environment – Will work outside, inside, and in a small kiosk.
• Schedule – Varies. Weekend and holiday work will be required.
• Travel Requirements – Travel to other Solid Waste sites will be required. 
• Customer Interactions - Daily interactions in-person with the public and Thurston County staff.
