WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Associate Director, Data Policy Governance role is part of RBC’s Enterprise Information Management Risk which is a second line team within RBC’s Group Risk Management function. This role will support the Data Policy Governance lead in managing data-related policies and executing adherence reviews.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Support development and maintenance of data-related frameworks, policies and supporting standards for governing firm’s data.
  • Ensure data frameworks, policies and standards align with enterprise and operational risk management frameworks, policies and standards.
  • Develop and maintain inventory of data-related regulations, regulatory communications and exam/audit findings to support policy comprehensiveness.
  • Develop and maintain methodologies for policy compliance monitoring.
  • Provide input to support US regional reporting on data risks and key risk indicators.
  • Participate in forums to discuss policy adoption related items including exception requests and risk acceptances.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

 Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree coupled with experience in second line governance or compliance management role over data or a related area in the financial services or other regulated industry.
  • Experience developing and implementing data management frameworks, policies and standards for large corporation.
  • Experience engaging in regulatory research and analysis activities.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of data, privacy, compliance and regulatory risk management practices in the financial services or other regulated industry.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $110,000 - $190,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
