Department Overview
The Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) organization is responsible for assuring the safety and quality of material provided by the suppliers of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). The department collaborates with engineering, construction, and supply chain to ensure that qualified suppliers provide PG&E material that meets specification requirements, is understood and usable by the field, and can meet cost and quantity requirements.
Position Summary
This job is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.
The Senior level engineer job requires mastery of the Journey level engineer skills and duties. This position is responsible for providing technical standards, strategy and implementation support for assigned supplier quality duties. Handles complex problems and issues. Leads focused quality driven data analysis projects in the continuous support of Quality Improvement and the reduction of cost of poor quality.
Note: this position requires up to 25% travel time (domestic and international)
Special Note: Team member will occasionally support Electric Supplier Quality Assurance Engineering projects on an as need basis as well (workload and timing permitting).
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
The salary range is:
CA Minimum, $122,316
CA Maximum, $171,000
Job Responsibilities
- Develops internal quality control inspections and implementation of appropriate measurement methods and test equipment.
- Leads complex cross functional projects involving safety issues or other quality concerns
- Identifies and implements system problems and opportunities for enhanced processes and drive cross functional improvements to completion
- Performs root cause analysis and identifies linkages to business objectives.
- Designs, reviews, and/or approves verification and validation strategy, protocols, and testing. (e.g.: part qualification, and supplier change request processes)
- Communicates results to various levels of management and follow-up on corrective action activities.
- Recognize and respond to opportunities to improve work product and process to move the organization forward.
