GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund Soaring, Observing and Achieving Results (SOAR) HBCU Scholars Program Lead plays a critical role in ensuring a successful and impactful experience for all participants. This position is responsible for overseeing daytime operations, managing camp staff, and supporting the overall camp environment. The Lead will work closely with mentors, presenters, and campus staff to coordinate daily activities, maintain a positive atmosphere, and ensure the safety and engagement of all campers.

  • Able to work some evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in general studies or a related field, or completion of at least 30 hours of college coursework.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daytime Supervision: Monitor student activities and ensure safety during daytime hours.
  • Student Support: Provide guidance, enforce camp rules, and address student concerns.
  • Safety and Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies, conduct dorm checks, and report incidents.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with staff for smooth transitions.
  • Logistics: Assist with lights out, wake-up calls, and evening activity coordination.
  • Represent SOAR Summer Camp and Hinds Community College professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
