Job Description

We are looking for a Senior IT Project Manager for our global organisation. In support of Fugro’s digitalization journey and our commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex IT projects that drive application modernization, rationalization, and the decommissioning of legacy systems. You will play a key role in transforming our application landscape, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with Fugro’s global standards and information security policies.

Within this role, you will report to the Global Applications Demand Manager and collaborate closely with stakeholders across all functions and regions. You will be responsible for maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, balancing cost, time, benefit, and risk, and continuously improving our project delivery framework.

The candidate we are looking for is a high‑impact project manager, IT manager or Portfolio Manager with a proven track record at top‑tier consulting firms, someone who combines strategic sharpness and passion for hands‑on delivery. You bring deep expertise in application portfolio management and have successfully set up and embedded governance models that drive real business value. Equally important, you understand that transformation only succeeds through people — you excel in stakeholder management, lead change with confidence, and communicate with clarity and influence at every level of the organization. If you thrive on turning complex application landscapes into well‑governed, future‑ready portfolios while guiding stakeholders through change, this role is for you.

Your role

  • You lead medium to large-scale IT projects globally, from initiation to formal close-out, focusing on application modernization and the rationalization of our portfolio;

  • You drive the decommissioning of legacy systems and ensure seamless transition to modern platforms;

  • You collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Application Architects, Information Security, and other stakeholders to identify risks and ensure standards are followed;

  • You refine and improve Fugro’s Global Project Delivery Framework, ensuring proper stage gates and sign-off;

  • You prepare and deliver continuous project status reports, conduct post-project evaluations, and perform quality control throughout the project lifecycle;

  • You manage project organization and governance, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations;

  • You support change management and stakeholder engagement throughout deployments;

  • You provide feedback and guidance to cross-functional teams, sharing knowledge and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Your track record

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field;

  • You have 7–10 years of relevant experience, ideally in an international, project-based company or top-tier IT consultancy;

  • You have proven experience in application modernization, decommissioning legacy systems, and application rationalization. Change management experience is beneficial;

  • You obtain strong project management and leadership skills, with a foundation in managing projects and resources;

  • You have excellent knowledge of project management methodologies; certifications such as Prince2 or PMP are a plus;

  • You have experience collaborating with internal audit and information security teams to address IT risks and maintain compliance;

  • You are fluent in English, with excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences;

  • You are a self-starter, well-organized, and able to take ownership and initiative.

Why Join Fugro?

You will be part of a multi-disciplined, global team, driving positive change and innovation in our IT landscape. Continuous improvement is your driver, and you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on Fugro’s digital transformation journey.
