Security Designer

The Security Designer will be responsible for handling various aspects of a project. Security Designers will be responsible for managing small projects and assisting with project tasks on medium to large projects. It is important for the continued grow of Telgian Engineering & Consulting that the Security Designer possess the aptitude to grasp technical and design concepts and apply them to respective customer needs. Security Designers will be assigned specific tasks and responsibilities related to maintaining the company's technical library, training new employees, and maintain the company's project database. Security Designers may be "vertical market specific" (i.e. Corporate, Government, healthcare, etc.), but will be given exposure to all facts of the security business. Security Designers will report to the Regional Practice Leader.

Your Opportunity

As a Security Designer you will work on a broad range of design projects including projects you own, as well as collaborating with Senior Designers on more complex projects. There is ample opportunity for development within our company, and travel is available, if desired. More specifically you will:

  • Assist with business development activities and preparation of proposal technical content
  • Reviews existing infrastructure security and systems for operational functionality, compliance with regulatory requirements; determines improvement recommendations
  • Expert in cultivating both new customer opportunities and strengthening existing customer partnerships within commercial accounts
  • Conduct client meetings and interviews
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments.
  • Prepares project design concepts as well as detailed drawings;
  • Performs engineering for state of the art security solutions
  • Prepare project budgets; Write project reports
  • Write detailed technical specifications.
  • Coordinate field installation activities

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in physical security design work preferred
  • Experience with Architecture and/or Engineering firms is preferred
  • Intermediate computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Access, and AutoCAD, Revit software
  • Analytical orientation/attention to detail: ability to understand, interpret and manipulate data
  • Results driven and ability to work to varying schedules and deadlines
  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Self-starter and resourceful
