About the role

Summary:

Responsible for first level support for the data/voice network including management of vlans, IP routing, firewall updates, wireless infrastructure, and VoIP phone system. Provides support of the daily IT operations, and IT projects, upgrades, and migrations.


Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree in Computer Science.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Ohio's Driver's License. Industry recognized certification preferred.

Experience: Two years of on-premise server and/or network administration experience. Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networking. Experience with IP routing, VoIP, vlans, SNMP, and ACLs a plus. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Essential Functions:

  • Daily monitoring of network systems with existing monitoring tools.
  • Assists with supporting network related tasks and/or requirements, as directed by management.
  • Assists in updating network documentation including standard operating procedures, how to documents, diagrams, and other documents as needed.
  • Assists with network optimization efforts.
  • Assists with tracking updates and repairs.
  • Configures network equipment for additions and changes.
  • Reviews incoming network tickets for resolution or necessary escalation.
  • Provides backup to helpdesk phone calls and tickets.
  • Maintains data, voice and/or video network hardware and systems.

  • The ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both in verbal and written communications.

  • Strong knowledge of the business area that is being supported.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Technical writing.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical reference and apply concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and comprehend general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, audit reports, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, vendors and management staff.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals one-on-one or a small group setting.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts to end-users. Ability to write user guides/manuals.
  • Effectively uses Windows operating systems to include but not be limited to: Active Directory, MS Windows, MS Office, MS Exchange, MS IIS.
  • Effectively uses Solarwinds IT Network Management software solutions.
  • Effectively uses Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Effectively uses Cicso Routers, switches and wireless infrastructure.
  • Effectively uses Ruckus switches.
  • Effectively uses End User/Helpdesk Support Procedures.
