The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
Position Summary/Details:
This position will provide support of one or more software applications of limited complexity. The individual will work in a Team environment collaborating on all phases of software development life cycle. The candidate will assist in the Energy Management System (EMS) upgrade project and transitioning Energy Control Center (ECC) applications to the new Bearss Operations Center (BOC).
Accountabilities:
- Actively participate in SCADA/EMS point to point testing.
- Actively participate in e-Terra Vision display design and build.
- Actively participate in display building of SCADA and Network one-lines.
- Maintaining up to date documentation of designs/configurations.
- Assists with analysis using EMS and other tools to detect and respond to IT events
Physical Location of Co-op: ECC Building 820 South 78th Street Tampa, Fl 33619
Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment
Preferred Availability: Part – Time (20-30 hours)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements:
- To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Required Degree: Engineering or Information/Computer Science
Year in School: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate Level Student
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Entry level knowledge of the Electrical grid.
- Entry level software development.
- Azure Dev Ops
- MS Excel
- Visio
- MS SQL
