Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

 

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

 

Job Summary:

As the Systems Deputy Engineering Group Supervisor (EGS), you will be responsible for supervising engineers and leading the systems engineering activities performed on the project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. The Systems Deputy EGS reviews and approves key systems engineering documents and must have a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to engineering. 

 

The Systems Deputy EGS is required to have a good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices and supervisory experience. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), can be the “face” of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.

 

Full-Time In Office: This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. #LI-AA7

 

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning, development, direction, and participate in the day-to-day WTP Systems Engineering activities​ 
• Review Systems Engineering documents relating to requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, technical trade studies, interface management, reliability, availability, maintainability, systems integration, and configuration management​ 
• Ensure systems engineers and technologists supervised receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development 
• Provide leadership and mentoring to team members
• Assist and manage the preparation and approval of system and facility design requirement documents<
