Who will you be working with?
The Wabtec Train Handling portfolio includes Trip Optimizer,® an Energy Management system that is designed to optimize and automate the operation of trains by creating the most fuel-efficient plan that respects the time and train handling constraints of the customer, and LOCOTROL,® a product platform that includes Distributed Power and Remote Control Locomotive technologies. In this role, the Senior Manager, Architects will lead a small team (<10) of technical experts in driving the most complex and technically challenging projects within the Train Handling portfolio. This role will also be responsible for leading in the strategic initiatives for setting up this portfolio for near term and future successes.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Train Handling team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision for architectural decisions within Wabtec’s LOCOTROL and Trip Optimizer product families. The successful applicant will work closely with product leadership to ensure that product strategy and execution are in concert with the overall architecture plan. This role will lead a team of architects to lead highly complex design activities, while ensuring the appropriate balance between mentorship, contractual execution, and new product development.
What do we want to know about you?
- BE/BTech/MTech in ECE /Computer Science /EEE /IT or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
- Minimum of 7+ years managing diverse technical teams
- Proficient in new product development and strategic planning.
- Expert knowledge and experience in Java, microservices, event driven architecture, frameworks, various open-source stacks, and relational databases.
What will your typical day look like?
- Responsible for providing technical leadership for defining, developing, and evolving our product portfolio in a fast-paced environment
- Help define and then communicate/apply technical strategy to daily activates and ensure products evolve toward the strategy
- Be a technology advocate in business and customer interactions
- Evaluate technology choices and articulate tradeoffs
- Work with GMs, Vice President of Engineering, and business development teams to develop multi generation technology plans
- Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
- Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
- Have ability to innovate and lead strategic planning for upcoming product roadmap items ahead of engineering teams
- Assign team members in a way to foster product expansion and extended team growth

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$117,900.00-$168,000.00The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
