Senior Software Engineer - Simulation

Luminar Technologies is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Synthetic Sensor Integration team, combining game development, networking, and computer science tools that accelerate the utilization of our sensor and software products. The ideal candidate will participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of simulation services and tools. Our vision is to save 100 million lives and 100 trillion hours over 100 years. We have deals with many different leading automakers and OEMs, including making Luminar’s Iris lidar standard on the 2023 Volvo XC90.

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and improve multiple simulation platforms to accelerate LiDAR development, powered by game engine technology.
- Integrate existing SDKs and components into Simulation platforms
- Work closely with perception, data, reliability and other engineering teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Computer Engineering/Science or a related field
- 10+ years of experience working in C++ software development
- Expert-level object-oriented C++ programmer, including low-level debugging
- Knowledge of software design patterns and code optimization
- Experience delivering production software in a Linux or Windows based environment
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Computer Engineering/Science, Game Development, or a related field
- Experience working with Unity Game Engine, Unreal Engine, Applied Intuition, dSPACE, NVIDIA DriveSIM, or CARLA
- Experience with C# programming
- Knowledge of software design patterns and code optimization
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to motivate others, drive collaboration, and quickly resolve conflicts
- Enjoy working within a dynamic and continuously evolving environment
- Able to work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundaries
- An impeccable professional record and a strong and demonstrable work ethic
- Show out-of-box thinking and invent creative solutions for challenging problems
- Experience working in an automotive compliant environment

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $114,000 and $159,000* per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
