Maxar is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a strong emphasis on front-end development and full-stack capabilities to support a mission-critical Government customer at a secure site in Reston, VA. This is a hands-on coding role that also includes mentorship and team culture responsibilities. You will be part of a collaborative leadership team and a key contributor to both the codebase and the growth of the engineering team.

The role supports a suite of mature, mission-critical applications currently deployed in production. You will be responsible for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of these systems, as well as the design and development of new features and enhancements to meet evolving mission needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide O&M support for a suite of deployed applications, ensuring stability, performance, and security

• Design and implement new features and enhancements based on customer requirements

• Develop and maintain scalable front-end applications using modern frameworks

• Contribute to full-stack development efforts including API integration and cloud deployment

• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and architectural discussions

• Mentor junior developers and support career development initiatives

• Help foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

• Support secure code deployments and attend regular customer meetings on-site (~40% with flexibility)

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with current CI polygraph

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong proficiency in front-end technologies: React, Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript, HTML/CSS

• Experience with back-end development: Node.js, Python, Java, REST/GraphQL APIs

• Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps tools: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD

• Demonstrated experience mentoring or managing developers

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Work Environment

This role supports a secure Government site in Reston, VA. While we "build low and deploy high," allowing for significant remote work, on-site presence is required for customer meetings, planning cycles, and code deployments. On-site time averages 40%, with some flexibility in scheduling outside of recurring meetings and critical events.

Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Jersey, the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and for all other states is:

$131,000.00 - $195,000.00
