Job Description:
Recreation Services at Iowa State University is seeking a part-time administrative assistant II to provide administrative and clerical support.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours a week. This will translate to working hours every day on Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm, but the hours within that time frame can be flexible. This position is eligible for ISU benefits.
This position will provide office administration for the Department of Recreation Services located on campus in State Gym. This includes general staff support for thirty full-time staff and additional support for the Director. The Administrative Assistant II position will include responsibilities such as meeting coordination, scheduling spaces, booking travel reservations, data entry, and office supply management. Additionally, the responsibilities will include assisting with the planning and logistics of event management.
This position is part of the Recreation Services’ Business Operations team and will report to the Associate Director of Business Operations. The responsibilities will include compiling moderately complex financial and operational reports and assisting with the updating and maintaining of department policies and documents.
Example of Duties
• Performs a variety of administrative support activities.
• Prepares minutes, notices, agendas, and correspondence.
• Conducts moderately complex research, gathers data, and prepares reports.
• Arranges calls and schedules meetings.
• Makes travel reservations and itineraries.
• Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.
• Edits documents for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature

• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
