SOURCING MANAGER, CAPITAL EQUIPMENT & CONSTRUCTION (STARSHIP)

This individual will support capital purchases of electrical, mechanical equipment and its related services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection(MEP/FP) equipment & services procurement strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on the selection of MEP/FP systems that align with market availability & capabilities.
  • Review and validate engineering designs, scope of work and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform market analysis to determine should costs and achieve the best purchasing deals for MEP/FP equipment and services for diverse projects throughout Starbase.
  • Create and negotiate contract documents in collaboration with the legal department[JD1]
  • Evaluate MEP/FP contractor’s bill of materials / scope of work for completeness and accuracy against the project requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring clear communication, adherence to contracts, and resolution of any performance or delivery issues.
  • Present value propositions to SpaceX management, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply issues
  • Identify and execute cost reduction projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updates
  • Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement and performance for assigned categories
  • Create and implement management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base
  • Lead and execute request for proposals to fulfill requirements for defined categories or internal assigned areas
  • Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categories
  • Develop and lead efforts to reduce number of transactions
  • Take ownership of team effort to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development
  • Develop clear technology and commodity roadmaps for current commodity, product, vertical as they relate to future SpaceX programs
  • Manage supply base from concept to end of life to ensure continuity of supply with the right materials driving plan in place and on-time delivery[JD2]
  • Manage junior staff members in some aspects of their jobs and provide strategic support whenever needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Construction, facilities, or industrial plant management

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection technical background to speak the language of engineers and strong business background to deal with contracts and negotiations.
  • Experience working for an electrical / mechanical contractor preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction industry standards and codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, etc)
  • Industrial equipment project management experience and / or relevant experience implementing / sourcing mechanical or electrical equipment
  • Familiarity or experience in purchasing or similar procurement related experience
  • Construction equipment & services procurement experience in residential or industrial industry
  • Budget tracking and cost analytical skills
  • Extensive project management and organizational skills
  • Experience managing entire supply base from concept to end with the right materials driving plan in place and on-time delivery
