Your Role as a Workers' Compensation Claim Supervisor

As a Workers' Compensation Claim Supervisor, you will oversee a team of 4-5 adjusters handling multiple accounts under California jurisdiction. This role requires a proactive leader with strong expertise in workers’ compensation claims, ensuring compliance with CCMSI’s corporate standards and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of adjusters, ensuring high-quality claim handling.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings to review case progress, discuss challenges, and provide coaching.
  • Oversee claims investigations, ensuring timely indemnity payments and proper reserve management.
  • Monitor claim activity to maintain compliance with corporate standards, client-specific instructions, and California workers' compensation laws.
  • Select, refer, and supervise outside vendors, including legal counsel, surveillance, and case management providers.
  • Directly handle complex and litigated claims as needed.
  • Provide training and mentorship to adjusters, fostering professional development within the team.
  • Conduct file reviews and audits to maintain best practices and service commitments.
  • Travel occasionally for client meetings and company events.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of workers’ compensation claims handling experience with a proven track record in managing multiple tasks and ensuring timely claim resolution.
  • California Self-Insurance Plan (SIP) certification is required.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to mentor and develop adjusters.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience providing coaching to improve team performance.
  • Familiarity with California workers' compensation regulations for multiple accounts.

  • Team Performance: Overall claim closing ratio, adherence to best practices, and quality of claim handling.
  • Operational Efficiency: Clearing of documents, timely processing of indemnity payments, and effective caseload management.
  • Client Satisfaction: Maintaining high service standards and meeting CCMSI and external performance benchmarks.
