As a Sr. Manager, Communications – Executive Writer, you will play a key role in shaping how Target’s most senior leaders share the company’s story with clarity, purpose and heart. You’ll bring exceptional writing skills, storytelling instincts, and business understanding to translate strategy into communications that inspire confidence and action across audiences.

You will collaborate closely with Corporate Affairs teammates, including Executive Strategists, Initiative Leads and Business Strategists, to develop leader communications that reinforce enterprise priority narratives with the highest standards of quality and creativity. You’ll turn high-level messaging and strategic direction into leader-specific talking points, speeches and prep-materials that enable senior leaders to communicate effectively and authentically.

  • Write compelling, high-quality communications that equip senior executives to deliver key messages—across speeches, presentations, video or call scripts, op-eds, talking points, social posts, and internal or external remarks.

  • Translate strategic direction from partners into clear, consistent, and leader-ready materials that align with Target’s enterprise narratives and communication goals.

  • Apply deep business and audience understanding to create content that connects Target’s purpose and priorities to what matters most for team members, guests, and communities.

  • Collaborate across Corporate Affairs roundtables to ensure executive communications align with broader storytelling plans and help meet the goal of advancing a specific narrative.

  • Partner with enterprise teams, including subject-matter experts, executive leaders, chiefs of staff and human resources.

  • Contribute ideas and creative approaches that push storytelling forward, helping the team continuously innovate around how we tell stories and use executive voices, and demonstrate a willingness to continue to learn and apply technology like GenAI to your work.

  • Flex across multiple leaders and business areas to support key communications periods and enterprise moments, managing volume and complexity with agility and precision.

  • Model excellence in writing craft and collaboration, mentoring others informally and contributing to a culture that values inclusivity, creativity, and continuous improvement.

About You
