We are seeking a talented and motivated R&D lab technician, in BASF’s Wyandotte, MI site, which is part of the Performance materials R&D Polyurethane Systems team at BASF. As an R&D technician, you will be working under a supervision of an R&D manager and you be responsible for polymer synthesis and formulation/sample preparation in lab- and pilot scales, to support polyurethane systems product development.

During your straight Monday to Friday day shift as a R&D Lab Technician - Polyurethane Systems, you will

 

• Synthesize prepare resin and isocyanate blends, and synthesize polymer samples and articles in lab- and pilot-scales
• Mix and foam polyurethane formulations
• Analyze foam samples and articles, including chemical and physical characterization
• Assist in scale up and/or use of various polymer processing equipment
• Document results in a timely manner into an electronic notebook system
• Maintain safe and efficient laboratory conditions, while striving to constantly improve safety and efficiency
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP)
• Work independently and as a part of project teams to deliver results
• Prepare, package, and ship samples

If you...

w

 

• Have a B.Sc. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field with at least 2 years of hands-on industrial experience as a lab technician in a chemical company this will be preferred.
• Are detailed oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Possess prior experience in synthetic organic chemistry or polyurethane formulation or analysis it will be preferred.
• Are experienced with MS Office.
