Technician Crew Lead

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position will assist Maintenance leadership on the day-to-day processing activities for the Maintenance Department. The Technician Crew Lead will be required to support operations of all equipment on the pack out area while maintaining with the standards established regarding Safety and Quality.

Work on all mechanical and electrical malfunctions of the packaging equipment. Responsible to install, changeover, maintain and repair all packaging and support equipment.  Assist the machine operators (PMO) in maintaining and improving packaging machine efficiencies. Help out in the development of equipment and process improvements that can contribute to the overall success of the company. Must develop leadership skills and be willing to help out and train the other employees within the Maintenance Department.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform regular and preventive maintenance on equipment to eliminate unscheduled downtime.
• Assist other department personnel as required.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment to install new or repair parts following manufactures recommendations.
• Assist (PMO) operators in improving production efficiencies.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and exploded parts diagrams.
• Should be able to support production and departmental needs with little to no supervision.
• Identify areas of needed repairs and work with maintenance department leadership to ensure work orders are created and assigned to appropriate personnel and completed by due dates.
• Upgrade skills and knowledge as equipment and technology develops.
• Understanding of industrial electricity and troubleshooting of related problems to include 5vdc and 24vdc control circuits.
• Responsible for the mechanical logic and the most complex electrical issues within the facility.
• Make recommendations for equipment upgrades and modifications to supervisors and management.
• Perform all work to reflect a commitment to quality and job ownership keeping in mind all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment is maintained.
• A knowledge of VFFS machines, scales and supporting equipment like metal detectors, tape machines, palletizers and stretch wrappers is key to this position. 
•   Monitoring routine results, responds to trends and patterns, and initiates root cause activities as needed using various systems and multiple technical strategies.
•   Responsible for effective shift start-up and daily operation
•   Directs activities of day-to-day operation including training of personnel associated with the assigned function.
•   Works closely with the various operations teams to ensure continuous flow and monitoring of equipment and/or solutions.
•   Reports equipment performance as needed to ensure function effectiveness.
•   Ensures that assigned schedules or needs are met and that staff adheres to start, stop, and break times.
•   Actively participates in the development and delivery of various plans to ensure proper execution of system requirements.
•   Work with necessary groups to organize testing of new documentation and process improvements.
•   Provides written communication for equipment checks and downtime.  Able to handle multiple tasks daily.
•   Assist Maintenance leaders in ensuring all Preventative Maintenance (PMs) tasks are completed on time.
