About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of e-Discovery Services to lead our client-facing eDiscovery operations. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality, defensible, and cost-effective discovery solutions to our clients across the country. The Director will oversee the full lifecycle of eDiscovery projects, manage a multidisciplinary team, and serve as a strategic advisor to clients on complex discovery matters. This position reports directly to the Chair and Managing Member of CODISCOVR.
- Lead and manage the eDiscovery services team, including project managers, analysts, and technical staff.
- Implement and maintain consistent and superior customer service standards.
- Oversee all phases of the EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model), including identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI).
- Demonstrate a mastery of various eDiscovery applications, including Relativity and Everlaw, and advanced AI tools.
- Propose the creation of new systems and processes to streamline operations.
- Serve as a key liaison between law firm clients, internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
- Develop and implement best practices, workflows, and quality control protocols to ensure defensibility and efficiency.
- Assist and support business development initiatives and processes including lead/opportunity tracking, proposal analysis, development, contract/agreement review and approval, and quality assurance.
- Assist with billable tasks, including advanced issues with data collection, processing, review and production.
- Provide strategic guidance on data preservation, litigation readiness, and information governance.
- Collaborate with legal teams to develop discovery strategies and manage large-scale document reviews.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards in all eDiscovery activities.
- Oversee the management and monitoring of client data infrastructure, including Relativity environment and client data archiving and tracking.
- Prepare for and follow up on meetings, prepare leaders for upcoming meetings by ensuring they have all the information necessary to be productive and engaged.
- Manage hiring process in partnership with Leadership Team and Human Resources to include drafting job descriptions, outlining interview processes, and screening candidates, when appropriate.
- Participate in new employee on-boarding, training programs, and firm introductions.
- Maintain professional image within the firm and project same to those outside the firm.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field;
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in eDiscovery, legal technology, or litigation support;
- Minimum 3-5 years in a leadership role, ideally in a law firm and eDiscovery vendor;
- Proficiency in Relativity;
- Understanding of technical proposal analysis and ability to review agreements;
- Understanding the eDiscovery (e.g., EDRM) and litigation lifecycle.
- Excellent client/customer service skills;
- Understands all CODISCOVR practice areas and maintains relationship with key partners;
- Proven organization and project management ability;
- Strong leadership and management skills;
- Ability to develop, analyze, and report operational metrics;
- Anticipates challenges, identifies opportunities and communicates such to Executive Leadership;
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a client-first approach.
