The role:
The Department of Health are seeking a dedicated Nurse Unit Manager to join their team at the King Island Hospital & Community Health Centre.
The Nurse Unit Manager:
- Provides leadership to the King Island Hospital and Health Centre (KIHCHC) inclusive of emergency, sub-acute care and residential care.
- Ensures the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education and nursing research functions within the; and
- Leads and manages the coordination of overall patient care and is responsible for managing the allocated human, material and financial resources for service delivery within the KIHCHC.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from January 2025.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary: $118,801 - $125,301 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
- District Allowances of up to $4618 per annum for a family
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,699 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
