Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Operations Strategies develops and implements strategies that optimize store operations, enhance the customer and colleague experience, and drive sales and profitability for Macy’s Inc. This role streamlines processes related to product flow, merchandise movement, pricing and signing, workload planning, fulfillment, RFID, and returns management.

Success in this role requires effective communication, cross-functional collaboration, and talent development. The Senior Manager partners with store leaders, field teams, and corporate stakeholders across Stores Strategy, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, Technology, and more to drive operational excellence. Additionally, this role supports key initiatives within Stores Operations to improve efficiency and business performance.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement new strategies and best practices to enhance operational workload execution in stores
  • Partner with store leadership to identify opportunities for process simplification, technology enhancements, and innovative solutions that improve efficiency and create a seamless shopping experience
  • Serve as the business owner for workload execution improvements, defining necessary system enhancements
  • Collaborate with store leaders, central teams, and merchants to establish and refine in-store best practices
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to drive strategic improvements in customer experience and operational efficiency
  • Conduct store visits to assess processes and identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Lead and support assigned Operations Strategies initiatives
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned

Skills You Will Need

Strategic Planning & Execution – Develops and implements operational strategies to optimize store efficiency, enhance customer and colleague experiences, and drive profitability

Process Improvement & Innovation – Identifies opportunities for process simplification, technology enhancements, and workload execution improvements to create a seamless shopping experience

Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partners with store leaders, field teams, and corporate stakeholders across Stores Strategy, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Technology to drive operational excellence

Communication & Influence – Effectively communicates complex ideas through clear written and verbal communication, influencing key stakeholders and driving alignment across teams

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Uses strong analytical abilities, including complex financial analysis, to assess operational performance and develop data-driven solutions

Project & Change Management – Manages multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment, ensuring strategic priorities are executed effectively

Operational Expertise – Deep understanding of workload execution, product flow, merchandise movement, pricing and signing, fulfillment, RFID, and returns management to support business goals

Attention to Detail & Organization – Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency

Technology & Systems Proficiency – Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and operational systems, with the ability to define and support system enhancements for improved execution

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 
    • 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in retail management
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. 
    • Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arm
