Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
This role of Facilities Equipment Maintenance Administrator is within our Cardiometabolic Business Unit located in San Diego, California.
Working under minimal supervision, performs relatively operational checks, preventative maintenance checks and accuracy verifications of measurement and test equipment used in production, and research and development (R&D).
SCHEDULE: 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday
What You’ll Work On
- Manage equipment preventive maintenance and calibration activities through Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain accurate written and calibration records and calibrate new components according to written protocols.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Collaborate to draft procedures and ensure requirements are accurate and achievable.
- Utilizing various measurement/test equipment and computers, calibrates electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards.
- Writes calibration procedures, prepares documentation, inputs data, and generates reports.
- Reviews equipment calibration and maintenance procedures, proposed engineering changes, tooling prints and other documentation for appropriateness and accuracy.
- Sets up calibration sequences, methods and procedures according to detailed specifications, documents, drawings, and requirements.
- Disassemble, cleans, repairs, and replaces defective parts of test equipment.
- Applies theoretical principals, evaluation, ingenuity, and creative/analytical techniques to identify route cause of calibration problems.
- Perform relatively complex assignments and solves problems that may have a variety of solutions.
- Adapt existing work methods to different situations.
- Resolves unusual, nonstandard problems.
- May serve as lead and assign work to less experienced personnel; reviews work of lower-level employees for quality and content; serves as a mentor when assisting less experienced staff in solving more complex problems.
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- One to three years of experience in equipment management, calibration, maintenance or engineering
- Experience with medical device equipment
- Strong computer skills including but not limited to all Microsoft office programs with strong knowledge of MS Excel forms, both operational as well as database.
