Position Overview

Corporate Treasury is seeking a dynamic and strategic MPLX Financial Modeling & Compliance Director to lead critical financial planning, compliance, and capital strategy initiatives across MPLX’s midstream portfolio. This role is instrumental in shaping capital return strategies, managing joint venture financing, and supporting executive decision-making through rigorous financial analysis and scenario planning.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Director will lead a team of finance professionals and collaborate cross-functionally with other business units—including Strategy, Accounting, Legal, and Operations—to ensure alignment on capital strategy, compliance, and financial modeling efforts. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills to drive enterprise-wide impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recommends MPLX quarterly distributions and unit repurchase authorization for board approval. Process includes evaluation of long-term scenario planning, intrinsic value analysis, and peer comparisons.

  • Responsible for executing unit repurchase programs including recommendations on the method, broker, and pricing and volumetric parameters.

  • Oversees the administration and management of Joint Venture financing structure as directed by MPC and MPLX CFOs. Lead and administer financing and refinancing of debt to support joint venture activities in accordance with overall capital structure strategy.

  • Leads the MPLX distribution modeling and analysis efforts in coordination with Business Planning and Analysis (BP&A), ensuring cash flow forecast incorporates appropriate return of capital assumptions including distribution, unit buybacks, and debt structure.

  • Leads the process for determining the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) for both MPC and MPLX. Process includes evaluation of current methodology, development of peer groups for comparison and business segment detail with individual hurdle rates. The approved rates are published for capital project and financial commitment return analysis.

  • Responsible for administration and maintenance of Financial Approval Authority (Policy 4101) including providing financial analysis and consultation to MPC and MPLX’s business units, key stakeholders and senior executive level management.

  • Responsible for the management of and quarterly completion of the EBITDA per barrel and Free Cash Flow (FCF) per share metrics that are part of the MPC & MPLX Annual Cash Bonus Program and the MPC performance unit calculation that is part of the MPC & MPLX executive compensation program.

  • Leads the Post Expenditure Review (PER) process for both MPC & MPLX performing a financial review of all major commitments and projects (board approved) including preparing, presenting and representing the teams’ analysis to senior leadership (senior leaders present findings to respective boards). Provide Treasury and financial support for M&A activity as needed.

Minimum Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or related field is required.

Minimum Experience Required

  • Ten (10) years of experience in accounting, finance or industry experience required.

  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications is required, with priority on Excel.

  • Proficiency in creating and presenting materials to senior leaders is preferred
