POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Office of Financial Management (OFM), reporting to the Grants Section. This is a full-time position that works closely with FDLE’s financial information and is responsible for ensuring that grant financial data is accurately transacted and reported. This position best suits individuals with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. The incumbent works independently to review current procedures and accounting methods and makes recommendations for enhancing and streamlining daily operations. This individual leads in special projects assigned by the Contracts & Grants Manager and serves as lead trainer for the contracts and grants unit.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Responsible for reviewing, processing, analyzing, interpreting, and auditing complex accounting records;
  • Updating grant awards and grant disbursement agreements in FACTS when appropriate;
  • Handling all grant management and financial report functions for assigned Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Operational and State Financial Assistance grants;
  • Serving as a lead trainer for the Office of Financial Management (OFM) Grants Unit;
  • Handling the set-up of all grants in Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR);
  • Reviewing HIDTA grant applications and amendments; routing for Business Support Program approval;
  • Reviewing and auditing vouchers produced by the OFM Grants Unit peers;
  • Developing and updating written procedures for the unit; and
  • Reviewing closing grants to ensure that grants charges and revenue are accounted for correctly.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data including grant award documents;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) system;
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
