Your Opportunity

IGO’s Nova Nickel Operation is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Technician to join their Maintenance team. This role is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and breakdowns across all Nova fixed plant assets including Underground fixed mechanical assets, processing and paste plants, workshop and other non-process Infrastructure (minor works etc.).  

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, key accountabilities will include:

• Actively supporting and contributing to site safety requirements;
• Maintenance of equipment (underground fixed plant, processing and paste plants, tailings storage facilities, non-process infrastructure, village and workshop;
• Assist with the preparation and support activities during major plant shutdowns;
• Mechanical fitting and welding;
• Regularly perform other mechanical duties (Fitter or Boilermaker tasks) within your capabilities;
• Report all faults and ensure that repairs are carried out;
• Complete Job Safety Environment Analysis (JSEA) or SWP prior to performing any work tasks;
• Support an effective collaboration between maintenance and production teams; and
• Continually identify and report opportunities for improving plant availability.

 

Your Experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to workplace safety and enjoy being part of a successful team. You will also bring the following:

• Relevant mechanical trade qualification (essential) along with previous mine site experience;
• Sound understanding of mineral process & crushing plants (desirable);
• Experience working underground and the ability to provide maintenance services to our UG fixed mechanical assets such as dewatering assets, vent doors, QD valves etc.;
• Excellent attitude to personal and company safety policies and procedures;
• Operational experience with fixed plants is highly regarded;
• Ability to analyse process data to determine ideal solutions;
• Confined Space and Working at Heights
• If your role requires you to wear a face fitted mask you will need to be clean shaven;
• High Risk Work License with CN, CV, DG, LF, RB, WP is highly desirable;
• Valid C-class manual drivers licence; and
• National Police Clearance obtained within the last two (2) months.
