Description

Boone Memorial Health is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join our Family Medical Center. As the first point of contact for patients, the PSS plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service while supporting front office operations. This position calls for professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Who We Are

Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is a growing, rural Critical Access Health System located in Madison, West Virginia. At the core of our system is a 25-bed inpatient hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Department, which is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. Qualifications

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Background in customer service or clerical work

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Comfort using basic computer programs and scheduling systems

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with others

  • Experience in a medical office setting or with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

  • Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information

  • Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and referrals as needed

  • Collect co-pays and process payments

  • Answer multi-line phones and route calls appropriately

  • Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health record system

  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow

  • Perform other clerical duties such as scanning, faxing, and filing as needed
