About the role
Directs, coordinates and controls the overall operation of the pharmacy department at the Mays Cancer Center. Provides oversight direction to supervisory personnel in managing their respective sections and offers advice and guidance in handling special operations and administrative matters or problems. Directs and participates in the human resource management function for the pharmacy department.

- Directs and participates in the development/revision, implementation, and communication of goals, policies, guidelines, and standards for the Pharmacy Department in accordance with the Universities policies and objectives.
- Ensures the department's continued compliance with reimbursement requirements and the maintenance of a competitive pricing structure.
- Oversees and participates in the compilation and analysis of data on departmental activities and services and prepares related reports. Prepares and analyzes reports reflecting utilization of service and revenue information and initiate responsive actions. Monitors metric information.
- Responsible for preparing the annual budget for the Pharmacy Department and reviews the budget performance of the department.
- Establishes and maintains a system of records and bookkeeping in accordance with University policies for recording patient charges for pharmaceutical supplies as well as maintaining adequate controls over requisitioning and dispensing of all pharmaceuticals.
- Directs the pharmacy's quality assurance activities and ensures compliance with patient care and medical practice standards. Works closely with clinical and operational leaders in addressing pharmaceutical services issues supporting the maintenance of high-quality patient care.
- Oversees the storage and distribution of all pharmaceutical items and ensures compliance by departmental locations and patient care units with established inventory control standards and procedures and federal and state regulation. Directs and controls the purchase and inventory management of all pharmaceuticals and supplies.
- Directs and coordinates in-service training ensuring the maintenance of the staff's skill/education levels with adequate competency assessments.
- Responsible for coordinating pharmacy students' educational experience within the department.
- Develops and maintains written policies and procedures for pharmacy services in keeping with state, federal and University rules and regulations.
- Coordinates the selection, promotion, orientation, and performance appraisal process.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- PharmD required
- Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) required
- Extensive ambulatory oncology and/or bone marrow transplant experience
- Sterile compounding experience
- Phase 1 clinical trial and investigational drug experience
- Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff.
- Knowledge of computer and technology systems and software including pharmacy information systems.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
