ADVERTISING TITLE: Career and Technical Education Teacher
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Gadsden Re-Entry Center in the Education Department. This position is for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching position in Building Maintenance and Construction.
The mission of the Bureau of Education at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide comprehensive educational programs and services to inmates. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Salary: $51,500.02 Annually
- Applicants in possession of a master’s degree (official transcripts) may be eligible for an additional $1,499.94 annually.
- Possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 hiring bonus.
SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent in this position is responsible for teaching the assigned career and technical subject(s) to students at a correctional institution/facility. Duties include but will not be limited to the following:
- Plans, develops, and conducts classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement.
- Supervises inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
- Ensures order, discipline, tool control, and safety in the classroom and/or shop.
- Evaluates student progress, administers grades and tests, and counsel’s individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
- Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program.
