As a Finance Specialist within PNC's Finance organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. This role will support the Asset & Liability Management Finance Team.

The Finance Specialist is part of Finance and Control and will support PNC’s Asset & Liability Management function (internal treasury). Primary responsibilities will initially include supporting expense management; there will be monthly and quarterly reviews of expense trend implications, vendor spend, headcount, etc. There will also be analysis of actuals vs forecast, and budget. We support a 2-year forecast, annual budget, and multi-year strategic plan. The group also tracks bank liabilities (senior and subordinated debt, FHLB, etc.)., reviews yields, and prepares regulatory submissions. We rely heavily on Excel and PowerPoint and advanced skills such as VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Index Match (to name a few) are desirable. The larger group is also responsible for accounting related to the securities portfolio, and you can expect to be involved in that as well. There will be ad hoc duties as assigned and opportunities to take on increased levels of responsibility as you progress. We’re looking forward to finding someone who is comfortable explaining complex financial data to senior executives and has a high level of energy for learning more about how a bank funds its balance sheet.

You may interact with internal and external stakeholders, such as Finance leadership within Control, and auditors, as well as senior executives at the bank.

Preferred skills and experience include:
• Accounting and Finance experience is desirable, as is a degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Intermediate level of experience in MS Office suite (specifically Excel & PowerPoint) is required. Knowledge of advanced formulas is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative to master new skills, create new reports, and propose new solutions.



This position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at manager’s discretion.

Job Description

  • Provides a variety of foundational financial management and accounting services.
  • Prepares and determines content for internal financial and business metric reports and information to support quarterly and annual external reports.
  • Responsible for identifying and escalating key risks to management. Prepares financial data and analysis to support risk management in order to evaluate implications and make recommendations to management. Promptly identifies and addresses control matters; maintains sound control processes. Compiles data used for Stress Testing Projections.
  • Delivers ad hoc finance and accounting analysis which may include management accounting analysis. Monitors and evaluates performance and authors and delivers communications as appropriate.
  • Prepares and delivers information in response to requests and requirements of auditors, regulators, and investors. Contributes to or delivers annual budgets or monthly forecast updates.
